Partha Shaw

Partha Shaw (b. 1971, Kolkata) is a contemporary Indian painter known for blending traditional Indian miniature art with modern figurative symbolism. Trained at Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, Shaw developed a distinct style rooted in Indian heritage yet rich with contemporary expression. Working primarily in acrylic, his art explores urban decay, architectural solitude, and human presence through richly detailed, symbolic landscapes. Influenced by KolkataÂ’s historic structures and cultural transitions, Shaw's paintings evoke mystery and nostalgia while celebrating the lost grandeur of Indian art traditions.
