Born in Sylhet in 1943, Deb trained at Kala Bhavana and MS University, Baroda, and taught at Rabindra Bharati University for over three decades.

Partha Pratim Deb

Partha Pratim Deb (b. 1943, Sylhet) is a Kolkata-based artist known for his experimental works combining painting, sculpture, and found objects. A graduate of Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan, and MS University, Baroda, his art blends folk traditions with pop-art influences, often using discarded materials to create humorous and dramatic assemblages. A respected educator, he taught at Rabindra Bharati University for over three decades, retiring as Dean in 2005. Deb has exhibited widely in India and internationally, and is a founding member of the artist collective Painter’s Orchestra.
